Longtime Officer Promoted Chief Of Town of Poughkeepsie Police

Longtime Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin P. Faber has been promoted to police chief.

Faber joined the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department in 1991, bringing with him a background in engineering and mathematics, said Capt. Michael O'Dowd.

He succeeds Ronald J. Spero, Jr., who was chief from May 20, 2015, to Aug. 30.

A graduate of the FBI National Academy and a former member of the U.S. Navy Reserve, Faber is certified in firearms, defensive tactics, general topics instruction and accident reconstruction, O'Dowd said.

During his 28-year tenure with the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department he has served as a patrol officer, traffic enforcement officer, patrol sergeant, traffic sergeant, patrol lieutenant and as captain of the Support Services Bureau.

 He was promoted to chief on Monday, Sept. 2.
